The winners of the 50-Meter Freestyle had to wait as
the prize distribution ceremony was postponed due to a flag malfunction. It was
speculated that Commonwealth staff didn’t bring the flags to the pool but only
electrical or some mechanical equipment was to blame for the unfortunate
happening on Day 3.
What failed to materialize were the flags that were
supposed to be lowered down during the national anthem of South Africa. It
never feels good to wait for something that you have won.
