Boxers advance

Indian boxers advanced onto the quarterfinals with Vijender Singh and L Devendro Singh winning their respective matches in 75 kg and 49 kg categories respectively. Vijender continued his sublime form to beat down his opponent Mujandjae Kasuto 3-0 in a one sided affair to seal off yet another win. The 28-year-old who had to settle for Bronze will certainly look to take away gold this year. It wasn’t a good day for the Asian champion Shiva Thapa who made a shocking exit.

Matthew smacked the Squash

Nick Matthew from England won the gold medal in Men’s single squash event on Day 5. He produced wonders inside the fenced squash court which was blue in color with some outline done to it. In pursuit of a perfectly weighted job done by Nick Matthew; James Willstrop slinged the racquet in the back corner in desperation.  Nick took the support from the side walls as he celebrated his victory over James to win a gold medal in the squash event.

Weightlifting

Marie Fegue of Cameroon won the gold medal in 69 kg category after lifting a total of 234 kg. She looked very strong and agile with a clear intent of winning the gold. Rebekah Tiler of England just missed out on winning a bronze medal as she failed to lift a clean weight of 123 kg. Even though, she stood fourth but it was a great effort to term it as commendable. All in all she lifted 209 kg. This will certainly add to her experience as she is still a teenager.
